Apple Business Manager

The account behind every properly managed Apple device.

Apple Business Manager is Apple's free portal for organisations: it links your device purchases, your MDM platform, and your app licensing into one place. Without it, every device gets set up by hand. With it, devices configure themselves.

  • Zero-touch enrolment
  • Managed Apple IDs
  • Connects directly to Jamf

What's included

What we set up and manage in ABM

A properly connected ABM account is what makes zero-touch enrolment possible in the first place.

Reseller connection

Linking your Apple-authorised reseller to ABM, so purchased devices are automatically assigned to your organisation.

MDM server connection

Connecting ABM to Jamf Pro so devices enrol into management the moment they're activated.

Managed Apple IDs

Setting up organisation-owned Apple IDs for your team, separate from personal Apple accounts.

App licensing (VPP)

Volume purchase and distribution of apps to devices and users, managed centrally rather than one App Store account at a time.

Role & access management

Controlling who inside your organisation can make changes in ABM, and keeping that list current.

Ongoing account maintenance

Keeping the ABM account itself healthy: renewals, admin access, and catching configuration drift before it causes enrolment issues.

Why TechCitrus

Why get this set up properly

A misconfigured ABM account is one of the most common reasons zero-touch enrolment quietly stops working, usually discovered when a new device doesn't behave as expected. Getting the setup right the first time avoids that entirely.

Talk to our team

Devices ready on arrival

New hardware enrols itself the moment it's switched on, no technician required.

One connected system

Purchasing, enrolment, and app licensing work together instead of being managed separately.

Built alongside Jamf

Set up as part of your wider Jamf Pro management, not as a disconnected extra step.

No configuration drift

Regular checks catch account or connection issues before they affect new device orders.

Common questions

Do we need Apple Business Manager if we already use Jamf?

Yes, for zero-touch enrolment. Jamf is the platform that manages devices day to day; ABM is what lets a device enrol itself into Jamf automatically the moment it's switched on, rather than needing someone to configure it by hand first.

What if our devices weren't bought through Apple or an authorised reseller?

They can usually still be added to ABM through other supported enrolment methods, though zero-touch works best when devices are purchased through a reseller linked to your ABM account. We'll assess your situation and recommend the cleanest route.

Is Apple Business Manager free?

Yes, ABM itself has no licence cost. What you pay for is the MDM platform it connects to, in our case Jamf Pro, and the work of setting up and managing the connection properly.

Can we manage Managed Apple IDs ourselves?

You can, but most organisations find it easier to have us handle account creation, role assignment, and app licensing through ABM as part of the wider Jamf setup, so it stays consistent with everything else.
