Everything Apple device management covers.
It's the term for keeping a fleet of Macs, iPhones, and iPads enrolled, configured, secured, and supported, usually through Jamf. Here's what that actually involves, and where each piece fits.
- Jamf 400 certified engineers
- Apple-only specialists
- One team, not five tools

Why businesses bring in a specialist for this
Apple device management touches security, support, and compliance at once, which is exactly why it's easy to under-resource internally. Get it right and devices are invisible infrastructure; get it wrong and every one of those areas quietly degrades together. If you'd rather hand the whole thing to one accountable team, that's what our managed Jamf MSP service does.

Common questions
What is Apple device management?
Apple device management is the ongoing work of enrolling, configuring, securing, updating, and supporting a fleet of Macs, iPhones, and iPads through an MDM platform such as Jamf Pro. It covers everything from how a new device is set up on day one to how it's patched, monitored, and eventually retired.
Do I need device management if I only have a handful of Macs?
Even a small fleet benefits from it: automatic enrolment via Apple Business Manager, consistent security settings, and one place to see what's out there. The tipping point is usually less about device count and more about whether you're currently managing things manually, one device at a time.
How is this different from general IT support?
General IT support treats Apple devices as one platform among several, usually with less day-to-day depth. Apple device management is built specifically around macOS, iOS, and iPadOS, so policies, troubleshooting, and security controls are designed for how Apple devices actually behave, not adapted from a Windows-first playbook.
Can this run alongside our existing IT team?
Yes. Some clients hand us the whole Apple estate; others keep their own IT function for everything else and bring us in specifically for Jamf and Apple device management. Both work, and it's worth discussing which fits your setup on a discovery call.
Is TechCitrus a UK company?
Yes. TechCitrus Ltd is registered in England and Wales, pricing is per device, per month, in GBP, and we handle personal data in line with UK GDPR. Our engineering team spans the UK and Brazil, which extends support hours without moving your account or billing outside the UK.
Can you help us work towards Cyber Essentials?
Yes. CIS benchmark hardening, patch management, and compliance reporting are all part of how we manage a fleet, and they map directly onto what a Cyber Essentials assessment looks for on Apple devices. We can advise on closing specific gaps ahead of an assessment.
